Harper Lee's
To Kill a Mockingbird is one of the few books I have read that stands up to every re-reading. Her
biography is fascinating. For example, I learned that she started but did not finish law school. The publishing industry was a different beast in 1960, the year
Mockingbird was published to great critical acclaim. Forty years later, Lee would have signed a multibook deal, and we'd all be waiting eagerly for another novel.
